The Christian V.A.L.O.R. First Lieutenant Jason D. Mann Award is given out annually during Memorial Day Weekend to the family member of a fallen hero who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country.
In keeping with Christian V.A.L.O.R.’s mission of making an immediate, direct, and positive impact and staying true to our faith based and military support focused culture, the award is an opportunity to honor and remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice in service of our Nation; as well as recognize and thank their loved ones for their sacrifice.
First Lieutenant Jason D. Mann died July 17, 2003 in Gamsir, Afghanistan while serving with 1st Battalion, 6th Marines as a Scout Sniper Platoon Commander during Operation Enduring Freedom, when the roof of a building collapsed on him. Jason was 29 years old. Jason of Woodlynne, New Jersey graduated in 1997 from Collingswood High School, and enlisted in the Marine Corps. In 2005 he graduated from the University of South Carolina and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. He was regarded by friends and family as a devoted husband and father and loving son. First Lieutenant Jason D. Mann is survived by his wife Shannon Mann-Alvarenga and his daughter Isabella.
